this zine was made within the framework of the museum of contemporary art “garage” in moscow. i, being a member of the teens team of the museum, embodied my idea of scary urban stories. moscow is a dark city with its past in dark alleys. for me this is not a lush historical place (such as places near the alexander garden, red square and central department store), but underground graffiti, bars and shabby buildings next to skyscrapers. a city of endless contrasts, where everyone hides under masks, pretending to be who they have never been. this phenomenon is in the erman language, meaning that by putting on a mask, we grant ourselves freedom, because we get rid of the burden and responsibility of our own identity.
